Bone Broth Latte - The most delicious and nutritious way to start your day!Bone Broth Latte - The most delicious and nutritious way to start your day! You’re probably thinking I’ve completely lost my mind. Bone Broth Latte, WTF?  Don’t run away screaming just yet, let me explain.

What if I told you that you can transform a plain-jane mug of bone broth into a delicious, creamy, frothy morning drink, that’s chock-full of healthy fats AND protein! It is my new breakfast in a mug.

We all know that bone broth is one of the most nutritious foods (if you don’t know about the health benefits of bone broth click HERE) and strive to drink it regularly. However, it can get boring drinking bone broth all.the.time, right?? Especially when you’re adding to an ever increasing list of fabulous healthy foods you’re trying to squeeze in everyday!

As a long time fan of Bulletproof Coffee or as I call it, Frothy Coffee… I was sad when Dr Mallon told me to give up my frothy coffee and eat breakfast first thing in the morning instead, in order to help heal my adrenals. I’m not someone who enjoys eating first thing in the morning, I’m not typically ready to eat anything until I’ve been awake for several hours, most days I’m not even hungry until lunch! And when I’d have my Frothy Coffee, I’d have lots of energy, be super focused and often not even think about eating until dinner time (aka Intermittent Fasting and/or the Bulletproof Diet)

So, one day when I was heating my morning mug of bone broth and trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast, I had an idea…. if butter/mct oil is yummy blended into coffee, wouldn’t it also be good blended into my mug of broth?!? And the bone broth latte was born (or a frothy brothy as my husband likes to call it).

For a few days I was enjoying my Bone Broth Latte with a couple patties of my homemade country sausage for breakfast. But I still struggled to find even yummy sausage appealing in the morning.. so I started adding 2 scoops of collagen peptides to my bone broth latte to make it a complete breakfast!

You’re probably wondering what the heck collagen peptides are and why should you use them as a natural, healthy protein supplement??  I’ve become recently obsessed with them, I’m trying to increase my protein intake throughout the day (as opposed to eating most of my daily protein at dinner) as a part of my adrenal healing diet. And I’m not a fan of protein powders such as pea, hemp or whey protein.

Collagen Peptides are the most abundant protein in the body and is a key constituent of all connective tissues. Peptides are short chain amino acids naturally derived from collagen protein. These natural peptides are highly bio-available, digestible and soluble in hot or cold liquids. The intake of collagen ensures the cohesion, elasticity and regeneration of skin, hair tendon, cartilage, bones and joints.

Collagen is a natural and healthy ingredient that has been used for centuries. Collagen rich foods were a large part of traditional diets. Our ancestors utilized whole animal nutrition, which provided an abundance of collagen (the native form of gelatin).

  • Promotes youthful skin, healthier hair and stronger nails
  • Helps keep bones healthy and strong
  • Supports joint health
  • Natural glycine promotes a healthy immune system, digestive and central nervous system.

I’ve been using THIS brand of collagen peptides because they are sourced from pasture raised bovine hides from Brazil, which ensures a natural, high qulaity and sustainable source of this nutritional powerhouse. In addition to my bone broth latte, it’s also awesome to use in juices, smoothies and other beverages. It’s flavorless and won’t become clumpy or gel. I especially love it in my Mean Green Protein Drink (recipe coming soon).

Now I get all the tremendous health benefits of bone broth, butter, coconut oil and collagen protein in before 8 am. All of those healthy fats keep me energized and focused, while not taxing my adrenals with the caffeine of coffee. It’s also perfect for anyone following a low-carb and/or ketogenic diet.
